Founded in 1897, the organization has spent more than a century collecting, preserving, and sharing the stories that shaped Lynn.
Today, it’s much more than a museum- it’s a dynamic cultural hub featuring exhibitions, educational programs, artist studios, performances, and community events. Whether you’re a history buff, art lover, student, or just curious about the city you call home, there’s always something new to explore.

The Museum is open to the public on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Be sure to check our calendar for special events, exhibitions, and additional visiting opportunities throughout the year.
Today, the collection includes nearly 10,000 artifacts, historical documents, photographs, artworks, textiles, furniture pieces, and other treasures that tell the story of Lynn’s journey—from a small colonial settlement to one of America’s great manufacturing cities.
Inside the galleries, visitors can explore fascinating stories of industry, labor movements, abolitionism, women’s rights, immigration, innovation, and the people who helped shape both Lynn and the nation.
The result is a welcoming space where the past inspires the future and creativity thrives year-round.
